What Is The Story About Rambo Knife?

For most children of the 1980’s they remember very vividly the Rambo era. Their friends or all the boys from the neighborhood would run around the forest behind their houses with squirt guns pretending to be John J. Rambo, killing dirty cops or evil commies. They all carried pocket knives that they would pretend was the Rambo knife
and had compasses, sewing kits, and an assortment of other tools they would need to take out “the bad guys”. For them, the Rambo franchise wasn’t about how we treated Vietnam War Veterans, or how America was tougher than any Red State out there, it was about one man overcoming huge odds and winning the day. It was about a hero. All the little boys wanted to grow up and be Rambo.
If you were one of these 80’s era boys then you will appreciate your very own piece of Rambo history. Each movie has a different knife that was crafted specifically for it and Master Cutlery has produced replicas of these for the public to purchase. The Rambo Knife from the movie features a 13″ blade, 18″ overall. Also features laminated hardwood with stainless guard and a leg tie. The stainless steel blade comes with genuine leather sheath and Certificate of Authenticity. There is also the Signature Edition which is officially authorized by Sylvester Stallone, this knife features an authentic reproduction of his signature, and is a strictly Limited Edition of just 10,000 individually serial numbered pieces world wide.
So for the little boy that never grew up the Rambo Knife Collection is the perfect gift to receive or give. There are many places online to look and compare as each knife has its own personality. If you’re a big fan of the movie you will want to buy and admire them, and display them as they were meant to be.< >< ><–>
Gil Hibben Gh5008

The history of the Rambo Knife of Gil Hibben Gh5008 is interesting and not as simple as people think. It was not just, here’s a screenplay and we want a knife. When Rambo was only mere words on a page and not yet in theaters a young actor named Stallone and others were busy hatching ideas about how his Rambo character could get everyone’s attention. His answer was in the knife. He wanted an innovative new design that incorporated features that he envisioned a person needing in a survival situation. Compass, large blade, strong handle that’s able to be used as a hammer if needed yet still hollowed out for storage of even more survival gear and saw teeth were all the perfect ingredients to create this character on a mission.
So the Rambo Knife was born and reborn. Sly Stallone recruited Jimmy Lile to make the original knife used in movie. Although Stallone only used one design in his movie, Lile actually made different ones. There were 100
serial numbered copies of the original First Blood Rambo Knife. Numbers 1-13 had 14 saw teeth along the spine. Numbers 14-100 had 12 saw teeth. Numbers 1-6 were stamped “movie knife” and sent to Stallone for use in the movie.

It is rumored that all 6 were pretty much destroyed during filming and are stored somewhere in bits and pieces. Originally, Lile kept numbers 7-14 and Numbers 15-100 were sold to collectors around the world for $1,000 each with a top grain cowhide sheath. Those knives now command prices of several thousand dollars each in those rare occasions when they are offered for sale. Lile’s shop also produced 800 unnumbered First Blood knives. Later Stallone would ask Gil Hibben to design knives for the other last two Rambo movies. In each movie the knife changes a little based on Sly’s needs.

Credit for designing the original Rambo knife mainly goes to two people Jimmy Lile and Gil Hibben who have designed Rambo knives for all the four movies starting from Rambo 1 to Rambo 4. Jimmy Lile was the master blade designer for the first set of Rambo movies and Gil Hibben designed the survival knives for Rambo III and the newest 2008 released Rambo movie. Both set out to make the knife designs for each film unique but functional. The whole plot was about survival and these Rambo Knives had to look fierce and they accomplished that very look and now you can own it.
Just remember before running out to buy your very own set, that there are different knives used in each movie and there are lots of differences that exist between the Rambo one, two and three knives. All three Rambo survival knives are 1/4 inch thick and are made with 420 J2 stainless steel blades so any would make a nice addition to your collection. However the fourth and final knife of the movie series is not like the first three at all and cannot be called an actual survival knife but it would look great mounted on a wall.
